Eric I. Richman

President and Chief Executive Officer
 

Mr. Richman has extensive experience in the development and commercialization of novel biotechnology-based therapeutics, including work at MedImmune, Inc. and Healthcare Ventures. Mr. Richman was part of the founding team at MedImmune, holding various administrative, financial, strategic planning, and marketing and international positions. Mr. Richman was responsible for the U.S. launch of MedImmune's first commercial product and was on the launch teams for its other products including international launch of Synagis®. Mr. Richman was a former Director of Lev Pharmaceuticals and serves as a Director of ADMA Biologics, Inc., and American Bank. Mr. Richman received a B.S. in Biomedical Science from the Sophie Davis School of Biomedical Education (CUNY Medical School) and a Masters of Business Administration from the American Graduate School of International Management.
 


 

Thomas R. Fuerst, Ph.D.

Executive Vice President and Chief Scientific Officer
 

Prior to joining PharmAthene in April 2010, Dr. Fuerst served as Director, Vaccines and Biologics (2004-2007), and Senior Science and Technology Advisor (2007-2010) for the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS). In these positions, he led the development and acquisition of vaccines and biotherapeutic products for biodefense and other emerging public health threats, including anthrax, smallpox, botulism, and pandemic flu. During his tenure at HHS, Dr. Fuerst helped establish the Biomedical Advanced Research and Development Authority (BARDA) and oversaw the planning, implementation, and monitoring of medical countermeasure development and acquisition, while managing a budget of approximately $3.0 billion. Previously, Dr. Fuerst served as Executive Director of Corporate Development at Sanofi Pasteur, Inc., where he oversaw the scientific and business transactions for vaccines and immunotherapeutic products for infectious diseases and cancer, and played a key role in establishing the company’s biodefense initiative post 9/11. He also led a collaborative R&D group to develop a next generation anthrax vaccine in response to the National Institute of Health’s Request for Proposal. Prior thereto, he was Vice President, Research and Development at Genelabs Technologies, and a scientific founder and Director of Molecular Genetics at MedImmune. He also served as a senior fellow at the National Institutes of Health, NIAID in Bethesda, MD. Dr. Fuerst holds a B.A. in Biochemistry from the University of California at Berkeley, a Ph.D. in Molecular Genetics from Cornell University, and a MBA in Science, Technology, and Innovation from the George Washington University.
 



Linda L. Chang

Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer
 
Ms. Chang joined PharmAthene in November 2011 and brings over a decade of experience in healthcare corporate finance and corporate strategy. Prior to joining the Company, Ms. Chang spent eleven years at Human Genome Sciences, Inc., most recently as Senior Director of Finance. She was a key member of the team that raised over $1.8 billion in equity, issued and restructured over $600 million in convertible debt, and transacted over $950 million in real estate financings. Ms. Chang also managed approximately $1.6 billion in investment portfolios, negotiated letters of credit, and participated in business development efforts, including the purchase of Principia Corporation by Human Genome Sciences (HGSI). Before her tenure with HGSI, Ms. Chang was an Associate at Booz Allen & Hamilton from 1997 to 2000. Earlier in her career, Ms. Chang worked at Grant Thornton, LLP, and Otsuka America Pharmaceuticals, Inc. Ms. Chang is a Certified Public Accountant. She earned a Masters in Business Administration degree as well as a Master of Accountancy degree from the University of Georgia, and a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of California, Riverside.

 

Francesca Cook

Senior Vice President, Policy and Government Affairs
 

Ms. Cook joined PharmAthene, Inc. in October 2003. Ms. Cook has held various executive positions and has a broad background in health care policy and reimbursement. Prior to joining PharmAthene, Ms. Cook served as Vice President, Policy & Reimbursement Services for Guilford Pharmaceuticals and Vice President at Covance Health Economics and Outcomes Services, a health care consulting firm. Additionally, Ms. Cook has worked in the U.S. Senate and the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. Ms. Cook received a B.A. in Biology from Mount Holyoke College and an MPH from Yale University School of Medicine, Department of Public Health.
 



Wayne Morges, Ph.D.

Senior Vice President, Regulatory Affairs & Quality
 

Dr. Morges holds a Ph.D. in Microbiology and Immunology from Hahnemann University and B.S. and M.S. degrees from Penn State University. Prior to joining PharmAthene, Dr. Morges was the Vice President of Global Regulatory Affairs, Vaccines for Baxter Healthcare, Inc., responsible for the global registration of a new meningitis vaccine in 35 countries. He also worked with Acambis to deliver a new smallpox vaccine to the Strategic National Stockpile. Previously, Dr. Morges worked at Merck holding various positions of increasing responsibility in their vaccine division including the head of Quality & Regulatory Affairs for licensed Biologicals.
 



Jordan Karp, J.D.

Senior Vice President, General Counsel
 
Mr. Karp brings more than seventeen years of legal experience in a variety of areas, including SEC compliance, corporate governance, mergers and acquisitions, government and commercial contracting, and intellectual property. Prior to joining PharmAthene, Mr. Karp was employed by Constellation Energy Group, Inc., a diversified Fortune 125 energy company, from 2001 to 2007. During this time, Mr. Karp served as Vice President & General Counsel for one of Constellation Energy’s primary operating divisions, Constellation NewEnergy, Inc., a leading retail marketer of electricity and natural gas. Mr. Karp established and managed the legal function for Constellation NewEnergy during a period of rapid growth, in which annual revenues for Constellation’s retail energy marketing segment increased from $2.6 billion in 2003 to $9.1 billion in 2007. Prior thereto, Mr. Karp held in-house legal positions of increasing responsibility at MCI Communications Corp., Guilford Pharmaceuticals Inc., and Mentor Technologies Group, Inc., where Mr. Karp served as Vice President, General Counsel & Corporate Secretary. Mr. Karp holds a B.A. in Natural Sciences from The Johns Hopkins University and a J.D. from Yale Law School.
